Suzuki Method
Why the Suzuki Method?
The Suzuki Method is based on the idea that any child can learn to play music, given the right environment.
The involvement of the parent allows younger students to begin earlier and keeps the older students on track.
The Suzuki Method includes regular group instruction, which inspires and motivates the students and gives them a chance to learn performance skills.
Suzuki parents and teachers participate in an international network in which parents and teachers are able to share ideas on a regular basis.
Students benefit from numerous additional opportunities to study and perform with excellent teachers at Suzuki institutes and workshops all over the world.
Parent Education
Why Parent Education?
Parents of children who study music in the Suzuki Method are involved in every step of their children's musical education. Before the child begins private lessons, one parent will learn the basics of playing classical guitar and will be a home coach for the child.
Parent Education Class schedule
The Windy Hill Guitar Studio parent education classes run for six sessions and are required for the parent who has chosen to become the home coach. No prior musical experience is needed.
Topics covered include history and philosophy of the Suzuki method, basic music skills, including rhythm and note reading, and tuning the guitar. We also discuss how to motivate the child to develop good concentration, strong listening skills, and efficient practice techniques.
